The Jersey Explorer Children’s Museum (JECM) is one of
the first non-profit children’s museums in the country to display true-to-life,
interactive exhibits that are the amazing handiwork of at-risk youth. The Youth
Corps members who work at the museum receive on-the-job training as well as
interpersonal and developmental skills in preparation for their high school
equivalency diplomas.
Over 19,000 children residing in the inner cities of East Orange, Newark, Orange, Irvington, Jersey City, Elizabeth, and the surrounding areas visit the museum or participate in the museum’s outreach programs annually. As a result of the museum’s efforts, our young people are empowered to seek and achieve the best quality of life possible. Your support will help fund educational programming, technology upgrades for the existing exhibits, and repairs and improvements to the museum. This year, we are proud to host our annual fundraising banquet “Celebrating Bright Stars of Tomorrow” at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, New Jersey. We are especially delighted to recognize these “bright stars” for their contributions to the museum and the community; Senator Nia Gill, Esq., Senator for the 34th Legislative District; Rev. Reginald T. Jackson, Pastor of Saint Matthew A.M.E. Church, Orange; Dr. Joanne Bruno, Vice President of Academic Affairs at New Jersey City University and Linda Caldwell Epps, President and CEO of the New Jersey Historical Society, Newark. Become a part of JECM history today by purchasing a ad page of our souvenir journal! In addition, reach out the news of our event with your colleagues, family, friends as well as your local business contacts to share the mission of the museum and to ask for their support as well. The deadline for inclusion in the souvenir journal is October 30, 2007. Your support will help ensure that the 2007 JECM gala is a success!
